This is a new and exciting fun shooting discipline at Canning Club. Single Action originated in the United States as an alternative to the deadly serious shooting matches that were at the time being held and is the fastest growing shooting discipline over there. In the United States it is known as Cowboy Action but it's the same game with a different name.

The idea is that the match is shot with up to two single action revolvers (.32 - .45 cal) of the type commonly used in the Old West prior to 1896 and also with a lever action rifle (also .32 - .45 cal) and double, single barreled, or lever action shotgun from .410 to 20 ga.

Matches consist of a number of scenarios that the cowboy or cowgirl has to solve (with hot lead of course). The targets are large and the ranges quite close so no one should miss. Scoring is a simple hit/miss with the shooter timed for the completion of the scenario with 5 seconds added to his/her score for every miss. The shortest time overall wins the day.

Contestants are expected to enter into the "Spirit of The Game" and dress for the occasion. A little imagination goes a long way.

This is a safe and enjoyable sport for all the faimly so come along and have a go.
